Opening up work opportunities for disabled people |
IFF Research are conducting a project on behalf of the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). The aim of this project is to improve work opportunities for disabled people and people with long-term conditions. To do this, we wish to find out from a range of disabled people what they want from work, and how work can be designed or organised in a way that meets their needs more appropriately.
How will the information be used?
The EHRC is aware that employment rates for disabled people are well below average. Its 'Working Better' project is intended to identify new ways of working that will enable disabled people to get and keep jobs, while meeting employers' needs as well.
The aim of this research is to enable disabled people to identify innovative approaches to job design, work organisation and workplace design. It will show employers how they can implement more flexible work practices, promote a culture of equality within their organisation and benefit from the skills of disabled people.
How can you get involved with the research?
IFF Research will be running small discussion groups with disabled people and people with long-term conditions to find out what they want from work, and how work can be designed or organised in a way that meets their needs more appropriately.
If you are an organisation working with disabled people we are looking for help in getting in touch with people in London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Cardiff who might be interested in participating in the research.
If you were interested in helping with the research please contact Laura Godwin, Senior Project Manager at IFF Research to discuss further. Please call 020 7250 3035 or email openingupwork@iffresearch.com
